EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculator
I have a 2000 Accord LX with 144,000. My CheckEngine light came on. My mechanic told me that Honda EGR valves rarely need to be replaced, but that the valve and its connecting passages that emanate from it and into the intake manifold DO need to have the carbon cleaned from the valves. So cleaned, yes, but replaced, no. The mechanic who worked on my car told me that it would require several hours. It took under two hours.
