When I stopped in at O'Reilly's to get transmission fluid and long funnel, the clerk told me that it may be my engine and not my transmission that's causing the lack of traction. He suggested the fuel filter. Maybe. I don't know. I have no way of diagnosing the efficiency of a part. But it got me to thinking that the transmission is just not grabbing the gears. So I wanted to know how a transmission works. Here's how:
